Namaste (Cultural Appropriations In Order)

i see them with yoga mats under their arms off to the studio to get their yoga on. a lot of skinny white people are really trying hard to be peaceful. just look around the class, it’s a cliche, only a privileged class can afford to pay but you smile and say, namaste.

cultural appropriation lifted from another tradition, branded as exotic meditation. you diluted and twisted the practice, satisfied your own desires and status and have the nerve to call it your own, standing in a circle going om. just look around the class, what a cliche, a class of privilege comes out to play, joining hands and smiling, chanting namaste.

homophobia and sexism. racism and classism. power and privilege oppression.
